From traditional opulence to ultra contemporary, fabulous design and fine service are the steadfast experiential qualities of the Chicago-based design firm. Known for their lavish weddings and grand galas, HMR Designs continues to set the bar high in the marketplace by adapting and expanding their design services. Leading the Chicago event design market for 25 years as Heffernan Morgan, in 2003 long-time innovator and technical director for the firm, Robert Mertzlufft purchased the company from its founder, Bill Heffernan. This allowed Bill to focus exclusively on the design aspects of the business while Bob cultivated business development.

Over the past decade, Bob’s savvy business acumen has advanced Heffernan Morgan’s presence in the marketplace and solidified the design firm’s reputation in the national event industry as a leader in luxurious, design-driven events. Always looking for growth opportunities, in 2008 the company purchased the boutique event design firm, Botanicals, Inc., known for its lush and artful floral creations and fresh approach to event design. But another opportunity arose and Bob took it. In 2010 the acquisition of Ronsley Special Events, renown for its production capabilities—particularly in art and fabrication—secured the compilation of an unheralded design trio.

Now, collaborating as one cohesive team, with some of the most sophisticated designers, skilled artisans and forward-thinking craftsmen, the newly branded HMR Designs is proud to offer extraordinary wedding design worldwide. While their new website is created, we thought we would share just a small sampling of their incredible design work.
