Andrea Liss, the Founder and Creative Director of Hannah Handmade, works with clients from around the world to create one-of-a-kind invitations that set the tone for events ranging from intimate celebrations and elegant weddings to corporate and non-profit galas.
Andrea began her career in the fashion industry as an art director at Carson Pirie Scott where she created catalogs for women, children and the home. She then went on to serve as a creative director at the Chicago Sun-Times where she and her staff developed concept and design of the newspaper’s advertising campaigns and branding initiatives. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to found her own design firm, which she has built from a one-woman operation to a thriving business known worldwide for its exclusive über-custom designs.
Now celebrating its 21st anniversary, Hannah Handmade continues to be at the forefront of invitation design. The latest collection from Hannah Handmade is a recently launched custom stationery album, Made to Measure, featuring engraved wedding and social occasion invitations in a range of interesting die cut shapes with coordinating silk envelope liners, folios and boxes.

She serves on the board of directors of the Greeting Card Association and its Postal Affairs Committee, and has testified as a design expert before the U.S. Postal Rate Commission in Washington, D.C. Most recently, she worked as part of the collaborative team of GCA and USPS staff to develop the Butterfly Stamp for square and other non-machineable cards. Through her Scraps to Art program, her firm donates excess materials to schools, literacy programs, writing workshops, and social service agencies serving those with physical and mental disabilities in her community. She holds a B.S. in Journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an M.S. with Highest Distinction in Advertising from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
