{THE BRIDAL CIRCLE}:  WHAT DO YOU DO? WHAT IS YOUR PATTY NASH PHOTOGRAPHY ELEVATOR PITCH?

{PATTY NASH}:  You look gorgeous!  I am a photographer.  Lets shoot together.

HOW AND WHEN DID YOUR LOVE FOR PHOTOGRAPHY BEGIN?

I was around 11-12 years old when I got my first camera, I remember it was a holiday gift from my parents.  I also remember when looking at magazines, I always looked at every detail in the pictures.  I have love photography since I remember.  As a teenager I was influenced by my grandfather and I today I own all of his cameras and negatives he kept.

WHAT THREE WORDS BEST DESCRIBE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE?

Elegant, Timeless, Clean

WHAT’S YOUR IDEA OF THE PERFECT COMPOSITION?

Clean, beautiful light, joyful moment

WHO IS YOUR IDEAL CLIENT?

My ideal client is someone who appreciates my art, who communicates their wishes, who trusts my vision and enjoys the creative process.

ARE YOU AVAILABLE TO BRIDES AROUND THE WORLD?

Worldwide, YES!

WHAT INSPIRES YOU, IN TERMS OF LIGHTING, BACKDROPS, MOMENTS YOU LOOK FOR, ETC?

Lighting:  Backlight, soft morning light, light reflecting in water crating a beautiful sparkle.

Backdrops: Nature, small towns, the mix of modern and old, the ocean

Moments: Children being themselves, reactions of people, tears, laughter, hugs, holding hands, the moment before the Big moment and the one right after are usually best!

WHAT DO YOU DO TO MAKE THE BRIDE & GROOM, AS WELL AS THEIR FAMILIES AND BRIDAL PARTY, FEEL COMFORTABLE IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA?

Complement their looks, guide them and let them know how and why they will look better a certain angle or way, make silly happy comments to make them smile or ask them an intimate/personal question to capture their reaction.  Occasionally I will show them a picture on the back of my camera to show them how awesome they look.

WHAT LESSONS HAVE YOU LEARNED AS YOU’VE PHOTOGRAPHED WEDDINGS OVER THE YEARS? (GOOD OR BAD)

Always back up (twice).  Plan on at least one hour earlier than expected/contracted.  Your team is very important, treat them well.  Trust your instincts. You cannot make 100% of the people, 100% happy, 100% of t

WHAT’S YOUR BIGGEST FRUSTRATION WHEN PHOTOGRAPHING WEDDINGS?

Wedding parties that are late or do not listen… It can be very frustrating for my client and I!

HOW HAVE YOU EVOLVED AS A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER FROM YOUR FIRST DAYS AT THE CRAFT?

The passion for the craft has grown into respect.  Also,  how  I see light now and how I approach each and every assignment.  My respect for both continues to grow.  I think you never stop evolving, I hope I never do.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WEDDING PHOTO YOU’VE TAKEN RECENTLY, WHAT WAS THE CREATON PROCESS BEHIND IT AND WHAT MOVED YOU ABOUT THE IMAGE?

I recently covered a bridal photo shoot for one of our future brides.  We were inspired by The Great Gatsby movie.  I truly enjoyed the planning, preparation and creation process.  My whole team got into it and we created beautiful images. That old Hollywood style is timeless!

FROM YOUR EXPERIENCE, HAVE YOUR BEST SHOTS COME FROM PERFECT PLANNING OR HAPPY ACCIDENTS?

A combination of both.  We plan on a specific look or moment and something else happens that makes that awesome shot!

NAME THE PHOTOGRAPHER THAT HAS INSPIRED YOU THE MOST.

Annie Leibovitz

WHAT’S NEXT FOR PATTY NASH/YOUR BUSINESS? ANY NEWS TO SHARE, FABULOUS WEDDINGS OR TRAVEL COMMISSIONS WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT?

Year after year, our business has grown.  We have maintained both portraits and weddings side by side, and we continue to invest on both to keep the growth.  I see our photography service becoming more exclusive as we become more selective in our investing as well.  We have a few weddings being published right now in three different countries, it is very flattering.  We are contracted for a large wedding later this year that is going to be AMAZING!!! Off the charts!!!

IF NOT A PHOTOGRAPHER WHAT PROFESSION WOULD YOU PREFER?

Interior Designer.

MOST CHALLENGING AND/OR FAVORITE WEDDING SHOOT YOU’VE BEEN ON?

Two years ago, in the middle of a tropical storm, we shot a beautiful wedding, set outside, under a large clear tent on a beach front property in Sunny Isles.  There was four inches of water on the dance floor. Enough said!

TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT YOU THAT NOBODY WOULD EVER SUSPECT.

I am not tall, blonde or a country western singer.

YOU HAVE 30 SECONDS TO LEAVE FOR A WEDDING SHOOT – AND CAN ONLY BRING ONE CAMERA AND LENS — WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Canon 5D Marl III with Canon lens 24-105mm  (in fact, it is always ready!)

YOU’VE JUST BEEN GIVEN A BLANK CHECK TO GO SHOOT A WEDDING ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD– WHERE WOULD THAT BE AND WHY?

Amalfi Coast.  This is one of my favorite places in the world (so far).  The scenery, colors, architecture, people, food, everything in this area of Italy is picture perfect … just breath taking! Gorgeous!

OH, WE LOVE THE AMALFI COAST TOO PATTY! A DREAM DESTINATION WEDDING LOCATION TOO!
