Haute Couture From Georges Hobeika: Fashioning Monet’s Painted Impressions for the Modern Woman

Texture, structure and intricate detailing are the defining elements of Georges Hobeika’s Fall and Winter 2014-2015 collection, based on the romantic garden-scapes of Claude Monet’s classically impressionistic paintings.  Working with a palette of deeply sensual blues, purples, greens and mauves, Hobeika paints the portrait of a modern woman blossoming in gowns of organza and swelling with tulle.  From the precision of an intricately embroidered bolero to the chaste lines of exquisitely tailored cocktail dresses, Hobeika’s collection is elegant, poetic and ethereal.

Fresh and as lyrical as the movement of Monet’s strokes across the canvas, Hobeika’s creations are stunning in motion.  Several of the dresses have a complementary counterpart in the form of a dress made for a younger girl.  The  children’s gowns are sweet and subtle, yet also emphasize the femininity and grace of the haute couture women’s gowns in comparison.  The gowns themselves embody a sensuality of movement.  Laser-cut petal skirts and fabrics with a near-metallic sheen catch the light and proffer playful, yet sophisticated, results.

Hobeika takes the art of couture to brilliant new heights with this collection.  We are still ooo-ing and ahh-ing over the breadth of styles and silhouettes spanning the runway, yet awed at the incredible cohesion the collection embodies.

You’ll swoon, too, over a few of our favorite Georges Hobeika gowns to grace the runway, pictured below.  It was impossible to narrow our selections down to just one favorite, so you’ll just have to sift through these chic selections on your own to find that one stand-out garment that simply takes your breath away.
