ST. REGIS BAHIA, PUERTO RICO
By Sade Awe, Founder and Editor-in-Chief
When I first drove into the beautiful gates of The St. Regis Bahia Resort in Puerto Rico I felt like I was entering into an enchanted tropical wonderland of beautiful lavish green plantations. I could hear all forms of wildlife calling, because I was surrounded by it on all sides in my own private tropical oasis.
As we passed through the luxurious Bahia Resort I caught a glimpse of the beautiful oceanfront golf course. Considering I play golf, let me tell you, I have never wanted to hit the course more in my life than at that moment. To experience the sport in such a gorgeous, serene spot was tremendously tempting.
The car drove up to the Plantation House, the main entrance of the resort where the concierge and front desk is located as well as the home of Fern, Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s award-winning restaurant. As I walked straight into the grand doors of the Plantation House I was mesmerized by the breathtaking view from the sitting area leading out to one of the most meticulous looking green lawns, leading beyond to the hotel’s private beach. Stunning!!
A former sugarcane and coconut Plantation, dating back well over 100 years, this luscious 483 acre resort is a true luxury retreat nestled among nature trail walks, sparkling clear waters and romantic spots for brides and grooms. Especially those looking to get married at a beautiful destination resort that offers everything you can think of and MORE. I can’t think of a more complete location for a destination wedding or honeymoon in all of Puerto Rico. Anything that you can think of you will find on this luxurious property. Water sports, fishing trips, scenic pools, private cabanas, miles of white sandy beaches, lush hiking trails and tropical views.
Being a self-proclaimed foodie I was in for a treat from all the different dining options available at The St. Regis Bahia. Starting with Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s’ Fern restaurant which offers you an incredible view of the Atlantic Ocean while you enjoy fine dining at its best. If you’re in the mood for some contemporary Italian and Mediterranean fare, there is Seagrapers located in front of the white beach and conveniently close to the pool. For a more casual dining experience there is Molasses located in the golf clubhouse and overlooking the meticulously well-groomed golf course. I had the pleasure of experiencing Molasses through a group cooking class where we made our own lunch entrees – Mofongo – at the direction of Executive Chef Rocio Varela. Simply DELICIOSO!
Being the girly, girl that I am (and a natural spa addict) how could I resist the serenity and calmness of the Reméde Spa? They offer an extensive list of spa and salon services to truly pamper you!
When it comes to accommodations, The St. Regis Bahia offers 139 beautifully appointed rooms, including 35 suites and residences. All with a boastful private terrace with spectacular views overlooking the tropical paradise.
