MADDY K WEDDINGS & EVENTS ATELIER PRESENTS THE BRIDAL BOUDOIR AFFAIR

Maddy K

Is it gorgeous? Breathtaking? Innovative? Fun?  If it’s an event in Montreal, chances are the lovely Madeleine Kojakian, founder and creative director of Maddy K Weddings & Events Atelier, is behind it!  One of Montreal’s most inventive and free-thinking event designers, Maddy K’s Atelier exults in sumptuously envisioned and lavishly realized affairs, seamlessly executed, from beginning to end.  That’s why, when we heard that Maddy K was the mastermind behind the Bridal Boudoir Affair, we knew the event would be stellar!

Last month, I had the pleasure of spending time with Maddy and getting to know her on a personal level during an autumn visit to Montreal.  I was impressed by Maddy’s determination, vision and delight in even the bittiest details of her work.  As we talked, conversation turned towards Maddy’s anticipated upcoming Bridal Boudoir Affair on March 23rd 2014, and how this spectacular event has evolved over the past several years.

Maddy K began the Boudoir because she sensed a serious lack of identity for Montreal brides.  We all know that the New York bride is trim, trendy and modern with a nod towards tradition, the European bride is cultured and stylish, the details of her event carefully and beautifully curated, but what of the Montreal bride?

The city of Montreal lacked a show that reflected the style and glamor of the Montreal bride!  The wedding industry was not considered a trendy industry, so Maddy made it her mission to transform that perception, through showcasing amazing talent, fashion and style unique to Montreal.  The Bridal Boudoir Affair was born, and has become more than a bridal show… it’s evolved into a fashionable event that expresses Montreal’s artistic core, and has freshened the face of a beautifully developing wedding industry.

The event began five years ago in a small boutique hotel where the capacity was only 250 people and only a handful of suppliers participated in the event!  Today, the show has grown to about 1200 guests who enjoy the amazing talents displayed by approximately 70 vendors showcasing their luxurious crafts.

In order to ensure that guests receive only the crème de la crème, it’s not possible to register to be a part of the Bridal Boudoir Affair.  Artisans and designers are hand-selected by Maddy from her personal rolodex of creative experts and dream designers.  More than volume, the Affair is about whittling down the options in a teeming marketplace and connecting a couture clientele to those brands that most express the luxury and quality they expect from the industry.  Every brand represented is absolutely Maddy K approved! Which I might add I had the lovely pleasure of meeting some of them.

The Bridal Boudoir Affair celebrates its 5th dazzling anniversary this year, so we’ve heard that Maddy K will have some tantalizing surprises for guests! It’s Maddy’s intention to absolutely WOW Montreal brides, and astonish the city with its own genius.  Every year, the Affair develops out of a carefully selected theme.  Last year, guests discovered the glitz and glam of Gatsby.  This year, the theme is 007, and we can’s wait to see what sleek and sexy surprises Maddy K and her Atelier have arranged!

The event is a one day affair – Sunday – and it’s like a decadent cocktail party!  Everyone dresses to the nines, excited to mingle with Montreal’s most aspiring and successful industry experts, hors d’oeuvres are served, the Atelier provides an open bar and lots of surprises!  Of course, the highlight of the evening is a runway show, with every trend, style and texture that breathes ‘luxury’.  The lingerie portion of the show is especially tantalizing, with beautiful laces, details and unexpected accents.

Guests are invited to relax and relish the glamour of the Menz Lounge.  Last year, the lounge was sponsored by Mercedes Silverstar and Mont Blanc.  This year, we’ve heard that Maddy plans on doing more for the Menz Lounge… after all… with 007 as the theme, how could it be overlooked?

A few industry greats to keep an eye out for this year include the Ritz Carlton, Jean Pascale of Bouquet Fleuriste, Joe’s Prop House, White Montreal/Toronto, Mont Blanc and Silverstar Mercedes.  Check out the Bridal Boudoir Affair’s progression, from 2009 until the present, and we’ll count on seeing you there!
